The first two decades of the British Mandate (1920s and 1930s) were characterized by rapid urban growth and the first urban sprawl as important residential areas formed away from historic urban centers. Palestinian Urban Mansions focuses on this important era in the history of Palestinian towns and architecture.

Born in Amman in 1975, studied Architecture at the Department of Architecture, University of Jordan. Memoirs Engraved in Stone: Palestinian Urban Mansions is her first book and is the second work in Riwaq's Monograph Series on the History of Architecture in Palestine. She worked as a researcher in Riwaq-Centre for Architectural Conservation in 1998-1999. Diala is a writer, painter and an interior designer.
