Authors

  • Dr. Nazmi Jubeh is associate professor of history and archaeology at Birzeit University. Jubeh was the co-director of Riwaq (1992 - 2010(, and the director of the Islamic Museum at Al-Haram Al-Sharif in Jerusalem (1980-1984). Jubeh’s research melds archeology, history, politics and architecture. Born in Jerusalem, Jubeh received his bachelor’s in Middle Eastern studies and archaeology at Birzeit University and earned a Master in Oriental Studies and Archeology and a PhD in Oriental Studies from the University of Tubingen in Germany.

  • Dr. Khaldun Bshara is an architect, restorer, and anthropologist. He is currently an advisor at Riwaq where he has worked since 1994. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering from Birzeit University (1996), his MA in the conservation of historic towns and buildings from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium (2000). Bshara joined the University of California, Irvine where he obtained his MA in Anthropology in 2009 and his Ph.D. in Socio-Cultural Anthropology in 2012.
